Info Letter for Le Grand Concours 2007
Dear French Teachers:
The Grand Concours 2005 is fast approaching! Hopefully this letter will find you planning for this special event In case you haven’t yet ordered your material, I am sending you an order form for exams and tapes you will need for the secondary and the FLES* exams. Should you have questions concerning the contest I may be reached at e-mail: dkress@centenary.edu or by fax at (318) 869-5411. You can find out more about the Concours by consulting the website: http://frenchteachers.org/concours. Louisiana has made great strides in education in the last several years and in French Education in particular. In keeping with that progress it is very important to reward students of French. The Grand Concours is one especially good method to do this. Students in the top 20% will receive the Certificat d’Honneur and the top 50% receive the Certificat de Réussite. Students in the top 10% receive bronze, silver or gold medals and numerous other awards. Moreover, you as teacher show parents and administrators that you are actively involved in your profession and working for the benefits of your students. Last year Louisiana had a great showing thanks to your hard work. Your success is even more remarkable when you consider that you compete against some very large groups. I look forward to hearing that you are participating once again this year.

This letter comes to you as coordinator and does not reflect any new or additional teachers needing codes. If you have new teachers, please tell me their names in order that a teacher/FLES* code may be assigned. Again, this code will report correctly their results. Also, without the code their answer sheets may be rejected by the computer and not graded. At that point, there is nothing I can do
You can access a great deal of material online now through Centenary’s website. This includes the form to order testing materials (in case you misplace the enclosed copy), information about what level in which to place your students, and, most importantly, teacher codes. You can access this site at: ww.centenary.edu/french/louisiane.html. Just follow the link to the National French Contest which is on the left border of the page. National Headquarters will activate the "codes" page shortly before the dates for the exam. If you try to access this particular page before that date, you may find that, until National activates it, you may not be able to access the codes.
Should you have any questions about your materials or procedures please e-mail, fax or write immediately. My coordinates are included with this letter.
Sincerely,
Dana Kress
Professor of French
