Cette bibliothèque électronique a été lancée dans le cadre d'un cours sous-gradué intitulé La Littérature francophone de Louisiane. Il faudrait donc remercier les étudiants suivants: Jean Ancelet, Ellen Blanchard, Clint Bruce, Jennifer Gipson, Mikisha Hooper, Joy Mettam, Britt Pitre, Andrew Pylant, Melanie Russell et Margaret Shideler. Leur but était surtout de laisser un legs à toute la Louisiane en rendant ces textes disponibles aux professeurs et aux étudiants des quatre coins de l'état, du pays et du monde. Ensuite, le site-web s'est beaucoup développé en été 2000 lorsque Centenary College a reçu plusieurs bourses importantes de la Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities et des Services culturels de l'Ambassade de France pour appuyer le stage pédagogique La Louisiane: Achetée et vendue. Grâce à leur soutien financier généreux, le site-web a pu s'épanouir d'une façon remarquable. En tapant des textes entiers, en traduisant plusieurs oeuvres en anglais, et en créant une page de ressources pédagogiques, les professeurs (de l'école maternelle jusqu'à la 12e année) qui ont participé au stage, ont rendu un énorme service à tous ceux et à toutes celles qui aimeraient se servir de la littérature louisianais en salle de classe. Certains ont joué un rôle moins actifs mais non pas moins important, parce qu'ils croient que l'héritage franco-louisianais vaut la peine d'être sauvegardé: donc, un gros merci à Les Hamm, Anne J***, Linda S***, Jean-Pierre P***, Patty R***, and l'équipe du Service Informatique de Centenary College, qui n'a jamais hésité à donner un coup de main quand on en avait besoin.
This on-line library was begun as an undergraduate project for the course Francophone Literature of Louisiana. A special word of thanks is due to Jean Ancelet, Ellen Blanchard, Clint Bruce, Jennifer Gipson, Mikisha Hooper, Joy Mettam, Britt Pitre, Andrew Pylant, Melanie Russell and Margaret Shideler. Their goal was to leave a legacy for all Louisiana by making this material available to teachers and students across the state, the nation, and the world. The site was greatly expanded during the summer of 1999 when Centenary College received major grants from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and the French Cultural Services to support the Summer Teacher Institute, Louisiana: Bought and Sold. Their generous funding enabled the site to be tremendously expanded. The K-12 teachers who participated in the Institute, typing entire texts, translating many works into English, and creating the Pages Pédagogiques, have performed an invaluable service for those who would like to use Louisiana literature in the classroom. Behind the scenes there have been a number of individuals who have helped make this library possible because they believe that Louisiana's French heritage is worth saving—thank you Les Hamm, Anne J***, Linda S***, Millard S***, Jean-Pierre P***, Patty R***, and the staff of IT who have been there to help us at every turn of the road.
Nous encourageons professeurs, étudiants et chercheurs à lire, à télécharger et à imprimer tous les textes considérés comme étant dans le domaine public, à condition que la Bibliothèque Tintamarre et Centenary College soient cités comme source. Pour toutes oeuvres qui ne sont pas dans le domaine public, les auteurs en retiennent tous les droits et doivent être contactés. Les oeuvres publiées sur ce site sont, en effet, des éditions complètes et non-abrégées rédigées uniquement pour Le Tintamarre. Pourtant, nous avons souvent modernisé et standardisé l'orthographe. Les chercheurs qui préparent des éditions critiques peuvent télécharger ces textes mais ont besoin de consulter les éditions originelles. Vu que nous cherchons toujours à corriger nos éditions, nous ne permettons pas la création de sites «copies», car cela entraînerait une multiplication de variantes pleines de fautes.
Teachers, students, scholars, and interested individuals are welcome to read, download or print any of the material generally accepted as being in the public domain as long as credit is given to the Bibliothèque Tintamarre and Centenary College. For works not in the public domain, authors retain all rights and must be contacted directly. Works appearing on this site are, in fact, complete and unabridged editions created specifically for the Tintamarre; however, we have modernized and standardized the spelling. Scholars working on critical editions are welcomed to download these texts but will need to compare them with the original editions. Because we are continually correcting our editions, we do no grant permission for mirror sites to be created as this would only lead to the multiplication of incorrect variants.
